A department of Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, our Center is staffed with specially trained healthcare professionals who will help you assess, manage and prevent health-related problems.

Our healthcare team, headed by a primary care physician who specializes in geriatrics, works together to promote your physical, emotional and social well being.

At the Senior Health Center, we believe high-quality, primary care should be affordable. That' s why we accept Medicare assignment and supplemental insurance carriers. More importantly, our staff is available to answer any questions you may have about billing, Medicare and other insurance coverage.

One of the Center' s major objectives is to simplify the healthcare process for seniors. Instead of having to make several different appointments, for example, you can now make just one phone call for a comprehensive array of services.

Physicians

Victor M. Alvarez, MD

 Dr. Alvarez joined the South Strand Senior Health Center in April 2008.  Dr. Alvarez attended medical school at the University of Pontificia Bolivariana in Medillin, Colombia, SA.  He served his residency at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, where he also served a fellowship in geriatrics.  Dr. Alvarez is board certified in family medicine and geriatric medicine.

Edin Karcic, MD

Dr. Karcic joined the South Strand Senior Health Center in September 2001.  Dr. Karcic attended medical schools at the Universities of Berlin (Germany) and Sarajevo (Bosnia).  He completed a residency in internal medicine at the State University of New York, and a fellowship in geriatric medicine at the St. Louis University.  He is board certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine.

Location

The South Strand Senior Health Center is located in Suite 100 in the South Strand Medical Office building, 5046 Highway 17 Bypass, in south Myrtle Beach.  The Center is open from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, and from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm on  Friday.
